The Next Mrs. Parrish

Liv Constantine returns with the follow up to their bestseller The Last Mrs. Parrish!

I was excited to get my hands on this one! I thoroughly enjoyed The Last Mrs. Parrish when it came out, and I could not wait to see what happened to Amber, Daphne, and Jackson in this sequel. And this was a bingable wild ride!

The Next Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine

Pub Date: June 18, 2024

336 pages

With Jackson in jail and money tight, Amber is scheming to hold on to her lifestyle while anticipating her next move as Jackson's release looms. Meanwhile, Jackson's ex-wife, Daphne, moved with her daughters to California to escape, but now her oldest has run away, returning to Bishop's Harbor because she misses her father. Daphne wants to help her daughters, so she moves back with them just for the summer so they can see their dad. Daphne hopes to avoid getting caught up in any drama with Jackson and Amber, but that is easier said than done.

This is told in multiple POVs, including that of a new character, Daisy Ann, a fun addition to the cast who has a history with Amber and a vendetta.   The characters are all memorable and vividly depicted; some you will root for, and others root against as they all try to outmaneuver each other.

Wickedly entertaining and fast-paced, this has unpredictable twists and high-stakes suspense. If you enjoyed the first book, this fun sequel is a must-read! It could work as a standalone, but I recommend reading the books in order to get the most out of the story. I love this sister duo's writing style!

A talented cast narrates the audiobook: Raquel Beattie, Scott Brick, Suzanne Elise Freeman, and Erin Bennett. They lean into the drama and bring out the villainous and emotional aspects so well that their performances bring the story to life and add to the suspense. I kept saying I'd listen to or read "one more chapter" but couldn't stop! I listened at 1.5x speed, and everything was clear and understandable.

Thank you to Random House Publishing Ballentine and PRH Audio for the free book and audiobook. #PRHAudioPartner

My steep was iced Raspberry Black from Mark T. Wendell Tea Co with a twist of lemon.

Daphne and Amber Parrish are thrust back into each other’s lives upon the resurgence of a long-forgotten threat, forcing a vicious game of cat and mouse where everything is on the line, in this thrilling sequel to the million-copy-bestselling Reese’s Book Club pick The Last Mrs. Parrish.

“Delicious and shocking, The Next Mrs. Parrish is an incredibly entertaining and compulsive tale of revenge and deception you won’t want to miss.”—Jeneva Rose, New York Times bestselling author of You Shouldn’t Have Come Here

Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way. Hard work and immaculate planning turned her from invisible wallflower to prominent socialite, though there have been bumps along the way. Less than a year after her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber reigns supreme over the Bishops Harbor community. But with Jackson being released from prison, Amber’s free time—and money—is vanishing.

Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, desperate to see her father, Daphne agrees to return for the summer for their daughters’ sake. Jackson swears he’s a changed man, but Daphne knows all too well that he can’t be trusted.

When a ghost from Amber’s past emerges looking for revenge, these three figures find unlikely allies in one another. But who is playing who? When all is said and done, they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game.

With shocking turns and entertaining characters, The Next Mrs. Parrish will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about duplicity and betrayal.
