We Solve Murders

Richard Osman's new series is a must-read for mystery lovers!

I loved this! Bingeable, endearing, funny, and entertaining. I was hooked from start to finish.

The core group that becomes an accidental international crime-fighting trio includes Amy Wheeler, an elite bodyguard, her father-in-law Steve, a retired police officer, and Rosie D'Antonio, a famous, best-selling author. Rosie steals every scene she's in, and would she agree with me on that! She's deliciously wild and iconic, and I just loved her! The dynamic between Amy and Steve is lovely. This group's chemistry is fantastic from the start, and they are delightful to spend time with. There are moments along the way that are very touching, too.

As you would expect from Osman, the writing is fantastic, with witty dialogue. Multiple POV, and well-paced with short chapters that keep the action moving. The balance between the world-building you get with a first-in-series book and the mystery was perfectly done. And this mystery is a clever, twisty, globetrotting adventure.

Don't miss this one, especially if you are a Thursday Murder Club fan or just love a story with great characters, hijinks, and heart. It was pure fun to ride along with Amy, Steve, and Rosie, and I cannot wait for their next case!

Nicola Walker narrated the audiobook, and she did an incredible job! I will be looking for more audiobooks she's done. She brought to life all of the characters, and there are several, with various speech patterns, accents, etc., and made it easy to differentiate when the POV shifted. She added to the suspense and expanded the emotion of scenes that pulled on the heartstrings. Super entertaining on audiobook and highly recommended!

Thank you to Penguin Random House Audio for the gifted audiobook!

PUBLISHER'S SYNOPSIS:

A brand new series. An iconic new detective duo. And a puzzling new murder to solve...

Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar habits and routines: the pub quiz, his favorite bench, his cat waiting for him when he comes home. His days of adventure are over: adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s business now.

Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. As a private security officer, she doesn’t stay still long enough for habits or routines. She’s currently on a remote island keeping world-famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive. Which was meant to be an easy job...

Then a dead body, a bag of money, and a killer with their sights on Amy have her sending an SOS to the only person she trusts. A breakneck race around the world begins, but can Amy and Steve stay one step ahead of a lethal enemy?
